Looks like a shark tooth. Why is it purple?

Why purple? As I learned when I was investigating my strange beach find which a poster identified as a stray Chinese bead, that things incorporate the color of adjacent minerals as they fossilize. Don't know if this is a fossil but appears to be.

Where it was found might help. What country/location?

Found on a beach, or in the woods? Could be just glass, shaped by wave action, or melted in a campfire. Or an odd beach rock.
That would be an strange color to pick up during fossilization; though some types of agate might be similar in color. It is too dark for Ellensburg Blue agate; just thinking of types of blue minerals.....
