They are about 10" high, 19" long.
    Marked with a "C", or maybe a "G"?
Age? I know nothing about andirons, this is my first pair, so any help is wonderful. Thanks for your time.:)

    Hi,
They are WONDERFUL!!! I miss my fireplaces from Brooklyn also. When we were looking for the first house in Jersey, I bought 5 pair of andirons for the fireplace. The house had no fireplaces nor any space to put them in.:oops::oops::oops::oops: I ended up keeping one set and when we bought the house down the shore again :( no fireplace. I still have the one set. Circa 1850 gorgeous. Had them at a yard sale for 50 dollars, only one person asked about them and offered 10 bucks. I paid 100 for them years ago. My look of disgust must have frightened the buyer since she fled the scene.

Have not ever seen those, nor do I find another pair in a quick search. I assume they are all iron? If so, would think late 19th to early 20th century.

Thanks so much Komokwa, Greg & Brad!
Brad, I just tried a magnet and it only stuck to the back log holder portions. I believe the front parts are brass. At first I thought they were plated, because I see a lot of dark spots in them, but from the back, I see true brass, so I'm pretty sure they're brass.
Thanks for letting me know they are not common, I couldn't find any others either in my searches, and I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
I'm wondering now if that mark may be an "O", with perhaps something else next to it. Tomorrow, I will try cleaning them up a bit and see if I can make out the marks any better.
Thanks again everyone for the help.:)

I also haven't found any identical ones. They look in a Louis XVI *style*, not period. Found several case flame/torch on types of pillars called Louis XVI.

The dogs/log holders or whatever they are called may have been replaced for they don't seem to have much wear?

French, wow! Nice! Wonderful Susan, thank you, you are so kind to look & find those! They really look a lot like the first pair you showed! The log holders actually look beat to heck! They (to me) look really old/aged/used. I just took everything apart, and gave the brass a partial polishing/cleaning. They look better, but not perfect. I took some new pics of the mark, and it definitely looks like a backwards "C". In my original post, I actually turned the picture upside down, but it really is either stamped backwards, or maybe meant to be that way, IDK?
    Thanks again.:)

As to the foundry mark, I'm not really sure what its orientation should be. One way it could be a "C," "G" or the number "6." Rotated it could be the number "9" with possibly small numbers running off to the right. At the monent I'm favoring an upper case "G." The orientation of the mark shouldn't be determined be how it appears on the andiron because these type of markings were willy nilly stamped on parts. I did search the oldcopper.com website for such a mark with no luck. As it may possibly be a French foundry, it may be impossible to ID it. Am including a few edited versions of the mark.

    G, C, 6, etc...

Number "9." Note the number "3" or "8" upper left, around 10:00 o'clock. Starting inside the diamond on the right of the figure may be a couple of numbers, 88???

Just noticed the mark in the 4th pic down. I edited that pic resulting in now thinking it is definitely an upper case "G" with a curlicue, twist, at the end of the cross arm/bar of the "G." Those running numbers are on the left side of the G and they look like 4 numbers, 188 something. I can't make out the 4th number for it is covered by the G. I wonder if it is a date??

Susan, you are so wonderful and sweet to help and do all that work!!! Thank you!!!
I took a few new pics, because each andiron has this mark, but it appears different on each one, so I took pics of both. An edited/cropped version of each one too.
    Here is one of them:
The first one is the cropped/edited version of the same pic underneath it.
