Treating Iron

    What are some of the recommended ways of treating antique iron - I have a strap hinge from a barn. I lightly wire brushed it and was going to apply mineral oil. It will be displayed inside. Other choices ?

    Hi,
    I melted wax and rubbed it in and wiped it off on all sides. Been fine in the house for almost 60 years.

    Spray generously with WD-40, let soak in for a few hours, wipe it down.
