Trifari brooch, please help!

Good morning,
I am trying to find what is the depiction of the girl with Laurel in the attached photos, all I could find is Medusa, is it possible?
Also how old is the brooch, from the signature I gather it’s between 1980 and 1999.
Why I can’t find any similar ones on Google? Was this one a limited edition?

I think, in Greek mythology the laurel is associated with Apollo and the nymph Daphne. So, Daphne perhaps?

 

That's an interesting thought. She looks unhappy enough to be the pursued nymph. Odds are the designer didn't have this in mind, but you never know. And could always say that's who it is, for you.

That whole antiquity thing was big in the late eighties and early nineties. Anne Klein did a lot of it. And Versace.

 

Laurel wreaths on women get associated with Muses or with Victory. I think by this time, the many Victory depictions may have influenced this one but it's impossible to say.

 

Good point re Versace. I would think that was the inspiration. (His was Medusa.)

I had so many jackets and suits with Versace style buttons. And a honking big brooch on the lapels to match. And earrings.

I don’t have the suits anymore, but let me see what I can find in the way of the big bling.

 

I don't think this is any representation of anything, except a way to suck money out of womens' pockets.
