I was offered this massive triple wardrobe this evening for free.
Thing is its 7 feet tall and about 8 feet wide and weighs a ton and is on a the third floor.
Its not really my type of stuff because its big and hard to sell.
It will split into 3 parts after about 30 minutes work.

I said to the guy I would have to charge him to take it away.

Part of me is hoping he does not call back, the other part is thinking its a pretty impressive piece of furniture even though it is quite plain.

Do you think its Maple wood.?

The interior photos do not do it justice, my flash came on, it is a lot lighter than shown.

WOW! those are what I get and take them apart for the wood to build other things out of. Just for instance, my parents had 4 dressers that were worthless as furniture from cat scratches but I knocked them down and now have almost a $1000 worth of maple stock to build things from. If it is solid wood yes worth knocking down, IF veneer I don't waste my time.

Looks like maple to me. If someone offered that to me, I would figure out a way to use or sell it. The fact that it knocks down makes it worthwhile even if it does take a little time to make it happen.

The item has to be out of the property by lunchtime Monday, otherwise a charity is taking it.
My removal men are not available.

I`m going down to the property later today to dismantle it and take it out bit by bit using the inside and roofrack of one of my Volvo`s.
    I`m not charging the guy.

I`ve no room at present to reassemble it at my lock-up so it will have to stay in bits until whenever.
I just hope I`m not stuck with it for a couple of years like the last large item of furniture I had.

:woot:That is a BEAUTY! I love the clear flamed maple, the fact it has no feet (no need cleaning under it!)
As Komo, I'd love to get rid of my old armoire to replace by this:joyful:

Interesting thought. There are also other woods that can exhibit such flamed characteristics, including birch and cherry, that this could be.

Yeah, whatever it is, it's worth having it even if you can't sell it & it just hangs around!

Found the obligatory stolen coathanger in this wardrobe.:D

Mount Royal Hotel, 800 rooms with bath, Marble Arch , London.

It always makes me laugh what people steal for souvenirs.
I`m getting quite a collection of wooden coathangers from around the world.

Its called the Thistle Hotel now with only 684 rooms.

Still don`t know, no one apart from me and the previous owner has seen it since I removed it.
Its in storage now, I might try and sell it to the trade so someone might know.

    Could be a long wait.

This is from 50`s - 60`s UK, not the done thing.

Most hotels I`ve been in recently have hangers attached to the rails that become pretty useless if removed.
