We came across this lamp in a house (the house weve been in for the last 6 months)
And it took us forever to find a base that would fit it in the house.

The lamp is signed Tiffany Studios New York.

We have sent off pictures to have it authenticated since no one in the area seems to want to put their name on the line certifying it (they wont even look at it )

Anyways, the base isnt signed.. It might not actually be the base to it, theres a lot of bases without shades over there. We just noticed this one fit with the ring around the top.
The top piece is still over at the house. I kept picking it up wondering what it was, but now that I see pictures.

We didnt even know this piece was signed till we got it back and in good light.

The diameter of the shade is 16.5" across the bottom.

Im not sure why the leaf looks like that in the photo, it doesnt do that in person

How long would Tiffany create a certain pattern?

Ive seen them dated from 1900-1920 some say the stamps have numbers, this one doesnt

But would these companies be signing their pieces AS Tiffany???

Another thing I noticed, but it might just be different variations throughout the years...
The leaves on the tiffany lamps dont seem to have outer filigree.
Ill have to look through other auctions to see if it holds true

I've owned a lamp for 40 years that has the same type of signing on the shade with an unsigned base. I've always assumed that someone was cutting a Tiffany signature out of maybe a tobacco humidor(?) and soldering them on a newly made shade.

I thought this was a tag as well, but it seems to be stamped into the lead

I can see 'Studios, New York" on the signature but for the life of me I can't see "Tiffany'' there .. looks like a jumble of odd letters .. Joy.

I’m not a lamp person but the text on op’s Shade is crooked and different from that on the real Tiffany shade at link. Quality of work on op shade is poor, nothing like Tiffany items. I’m absolutely sure op shade isn’t Tiffany. I don’t know about the base.

I don't know lamps. I know old solder. I doubt this is a fake unless there were contemporary fakes.

Funny, cuz that's what's bothering me....the look of the solder.
Tiffany has a know manufacture copper foil process.....but the solder on the OP's lamp looks a mess.
    And the siggy....

When considering buying an authentic Tiffany lamp, learn to look closely for prior restorations or other things not right, such as:
    1. Traces of glue (which is sometimes put in pane cracks to pull them together or make them not show as easily).
    2. Glass colors or textures that do not match or look right.
    3. Sloppy solder spots or uneven soldering inside the shade usually, whereas the rest of the shade's soldering is smooth and even.
    4. Unusual green or "froggy" green patination to the shade solder and other metal, often used by forgers in a sloppy attempt to simulate an old patina; but they go overboard.
    5. Look at the signature marks on both shade and base. The simple rule is that TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK is in all capital plain letters and no lower case letters at all. Also important on shade and base signatures is that the tops of the letters are in good alignment, meaning no crooked letters an no "up and down" letters. If the signature is on a curved spot or rolled edge, it will be of course not as clean and precise. Look at other things in those cases, including the base signature if the lamp has a base.

    A good read,,,,,,

I was referring to the appearance of the solder only. I am quite used to dealing with 100 year old solder. It has certain ways in which it degrades. None of your pictures appear to be earlier than 1970s solder.
