I found this lamp base a a Goodwill Buy the Pound(!) in New Hampshire. I want to rewire it and replace the shade, but I don't know anything about it; can't even begin to figure out what kind of shade it might have had originally. It's solid metal; black fluted column, and everything else is bronze (except the white "candlestick" sleeve). Closest my internet search has gotten is that the style is French Empire. lampy.jpg

    Welcome! :)
Good photo though if there are any labels, or such marks, people will want to see those and probably the bottom. :)
The socket and bale clip seem to have been replaced.

I think 60s-70s and all original. More Hollywood Regency than French Empire. Brass not bronze. Probably American made with some imported parts.

    First thing I would do...
Change the socket clip and bale to an old set with patina and put a fabric covered cord on it.

I suspect a pyramidal 'square' shade in off white.

I think its missing some prisms. My relatives in miami would have huge gold shades on it ! They probably still do !
