Google thinks it is the Empire State Building.

Hum... Certainly looks like Midtown. But way not high enough for the Observation Deck of the Empire State Building. And traffic runs southbound on Fifth Avenue. (To my eye, those cars are traveling north.)

Definitely Manhattan. I'm not surprised she'd have images of the Twin Towers. The language on the back of the WWII images would get you in trouble now, but it was standard when used of the Bad Guys back in the day.

 

Yeah, that must be the Empire State Building. Looking across Fifth Avenue to the corner of 35th Street. Building on lower right the old B. Altman department store which closed in 1989.

I use to shop at B Altman decades ago when I worked on 34th st. I walked over there on my lunch break.

My mom has a hairdresser on Saturdays after being a full time mom of four the rest of the week. She commuted into Manhattan from Long Island. The business owner's shop was in B Altman in the 60s and moved into the Empire State Building in the 70s.

 

Although Buzz looks so docile, he would be scarier than most humans!

Bronwen doesn't know, but her immediate impression was the Empire State Building. As has already been noted, photo does not look like it was taken from the observation deck, but I think the windows can be opened, so someone may have leaned out somewhere lower down.

During the time I was working at one of NY's radio stations the engineer on duty one night at the transmitter at the ESB got a surprise when someone meaning to commit suicide got blown against the building by the updrafts & ended up outside his window.
