Featured Unidentified orange beads

These orange barrel shaped beads were in a mixed bag of jewellery I bought. They feel like plastic but I want to double check.

No seam lines, no reaction from simichrome. What material cracks like that?

 

They've got an interesting look about them for sure, can't explain the cracks for anything in particular

Might be worth zapping with some uv

This is the only thing I could find remotely like them. Have you tested for Bakelite? They say they are Bakelite “amber”.

 

Not bakelite, I did the simichrome test. Coral is my best guess but I have never seen crazing like that on coral. Lots of knowledgeable folk on the forums so I'll wait and see what others think.

 

NOT coral, IMHO.
But what they are, I have no idea. Are they lightweight like plastic?

 

In terms of weight, they are similar to bakelite

Not African faux amber either, I have a box full of the stuff, and it is an amber colour.
I have no idea what it is, but just throwing this out there, dyed bone maybe?

 

Are all the beads uniform in their shape & dimensions?
