    Hello folks,

My grandma gave this piece with a note indicating she believed it from was the turn of the century and had belonged to one of her aunts. I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about this (or what it might be) including its timeline, origin, style, etc. that might help me continue my research.

    Much obliged,

My first impression is that it looks like those old 1970s plush wall hangings! Yours appears to be a runner, however. The Little Dutch Girl theme has been popular for many years. Sorry, I'm not much help with this, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon. :)

Grandma was correct - WWI era.
    Probably from Belgium or France.
Used to run across these a lot when I was yard saling back in the 1970s. Not this particular theme, but dogs, cats, young ladies in waiting.
    I like yours.

You didn't give a size. Would it fit a piano top?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Cute! I wonder whether the picture is based on a known story, or not. @Any Jewelry lives in that part of the world. Does anything look familiar, AJ? Or is it just a cute picture?

The latter, I think. It isn't Dutch, but clearly Dutch-inspired.
I suspect it is a charming example of American "Hollandmania". Hollandmania was at its peak in the late 19th-early 20th century, but Dutch style things were made before and after that as well.
