Here's another mystery painting. When I first bought it, I thought that it was a print. After a while I 20230401_161125.jpg 20230401_161129.jpg 20230401_161213.jpg 20230401_161138.jpg 20230401_161134.jpg 20230401_161149.jpg decided that it was a painting. Now I'm not so sure.
Looking at the back, it has some age, unless it's has a very hard life. Painted area size is 9" X 5".

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I'm NO expert on these, BUT I LOVE it!!! I'll wait for others to kick in!!! But I do think it needs some acid free matting if you're going to keep it!!!

Brilliant. Thank you and website added to favourites. :D

Ps I have googled a bit of old guildford many times and no relevant results ever produced, strange.

It’s a print/etching. You can see the slight indentation of where the plate was pressed into the paper.
Nice to have something that’s in a National Trust collection!

Ah you mean around the edge? I always wondered what that was in pictures. I thought it might have been where the painting was bonded to the surround. Now I know!

And yes it definitely needs some TLC. Is almost falling apart.

Puzzle seemingly solved, I now cant seem to find any reference to Leon Verdi on the www. Who was he, why was he important and why is his art work in a National Trust collection if Google dont even know his name? I'm baffled.

Try Leon Verdier. Someone left a bit off the spelling!

Nice old souvenir print. They don't sell for much now but they were a hot item back in the day.
