    Hello,
I'm not sure what this object is used for. Does anyone else know? The mark looks like a bee. Does it look familiar to anyone? The sphere is approximately 3"
    wide and high.
    Thank you!

Maybe menu holder or for a napkin or place setting?

Thanks for your response! I thought that too, but it's too short, the napkins would fall over. The slot is only 1.25" high.

Maybe the mark is an armadillo?

It would be good for business cards, and I've seen them used as post-it note holders. For the really tidy desk person, I just throw mine about.

I believe that it could be a place card holder to be placed at individual places at large dinner.

Business cards...rather than place card. Place cards would require the card to be visible for your place at the table....this would not work well for that.

I'd opine that it's more cat than armadillo.

@Cherryhill on the bottom, that doesn't look like a cat, on the side yes.

The mark is not that clear to me but the stripes are possibly a honey mark with bee on top? I have seen honey makers marks before. Maybe it’s a chopstick holder?

Just an idea, if you turn it 90 degrees to the right the mark almost loks like a Chinese seal script character...

im in with Mat....looks like a Chinese mark and the dog certainly has a Chinese feel. Look at the ribs showing, typical of drawings in Chinese art.
