I found this thrift store hunting today. I thought it was a Satsuma ginger jar, but then I noticed it has different figures all around it & each has what looks like maybe Thai language above them? It's definitely not Chinese or Japanese characters.
It's also signed in paint(?) on the bottom.
Can someone tell me what do I have?
    Thank you!

IF YOU LOOK AT PHOTO BELOW YOU CAN SEE AREAS WHERE IT'S GOLD COLOR INSTEAD OF FLOWERS & EACH HAS A FIGURE WITH SOME KIND OF MESSAGE ABOVE THEM (center, top left and top right) - THE VASE/GINGER JAR IS LIKE THIS ALL AOUND?

Not Thai. The red and gold mark is Japanese Satsuma.

That looked more like japanese characters than the writing above each figure - do the japanese have a "script" writing?
Any idea what they say or who the figures are suppose to represent?

Yes. Just like handwriting of English words varies by individual, so does handwriting of Japanese characters.

I cannot read Japanese characters, but I can generally recognize it when I see it. I'm sorry that I do not know who the people are intended to be.

Japan has three different writing systems. Google it.
