    Hello.
Can anyone suggest what this object might have been used for. ?
It measures c.27cm in length and appears to have a certain amount of age although, as you know, even tourist tat is often artificially aged nowadays.
Perhaps some form of calendar ?

Much obliged for any help !

May we see close ups of what is written on some of the wood strips, please?

It is a Batak calendar to calculate auspicious days. The Batak live in Sumatra, Indonesia.
These are also made for tourists, and have been for quite a long time.

I have one myself, a different model though, so I did more research on them.
I should have a file with more info on what the different symbols mean and how calculations were done, but I have no idea where.
But I'm not sure those details would be relevant for yours, I think it was made for the tourist trade. Lake Toba, in Batak territory, is a favourite tourist destination.
Yours is a nice one though.:)

It comes and goes, due to brain damage. (Recurring meningitis/encephalitis and a brain hemorrhage.) Sometimes I even have trouble remembering my husband's name.:shame:
I usually post here during my brighter moments.;)

That’s very scary AJ. I have a friend who’s dealing with that now. The meningitis was undiagnosed and caused a seizure and brain bleed. They passed out cold face forward to cement doing serious facial damage. They’re coming along slowly but with many issues, partial facial paralysis and future surgeries.
