I'd say a dress clip, silvertone base metal and glass. Nice detail.
    The cabochon can be replaced.

Agree on dress clip, although, if size is appropriate, could be one of a pair of shoe clips.

Should I clean it? Or leave it alone?

I will leave that to the costume joolies, they know what it is supposed to look like.:)

Too long, I think, for wear on shoe, so dress clip, which did sometimes come in pairs, as in 'duette' brooches.

Costume not really my field, but my 2 cents is that I like to lightly buff up something like this so that high points get a little shine & contrast shows off design better. If there are any places that have oxidized to the point of corrosion you can feel with a finger tip, I would definitely clean that up.

Between the wars Czech/Bohemian dress clip. Glass cabs made to look like semi precious stones. You may well find a replacement on Ebay or by harvesting from something else.

If it were mine, I would definitely try cleaning it up, you might be surprised at what you find.

You should know in advance that I've ruined jewelry trying to clean it up.

I so rarely learn from my failures. :D

    Agree, with cleaning.

It looks like pot metal that was silvered.
Needs a carnelian colored stone. Notice the green and carnelian alternate with the single blue in the middle.

Jivvy - I never learn either.

So somewhere between the 20's and the 40's?

reminds me a bit of Skonvirke, but I don't know if they worked with Gablonz.

20s or 30s, not 40s. Not a lot of making after 1938 for a while.
