Very old looking painting identification

    This seems to be a very old painting to me. Looks like possible 88' written under signature which I'm thinking could be 1888. Very thick with paint.

    Please let me know if you have any more information. It looks to be about 20" X 14"

    There is a name for that thick painting technique....I cant think of it right now. Maybe pasto?.....pastique.?..someone will know. I remember Impasto!!!!

    I would think 1988 more likely. Would you share a photograph of back of frame?

    Antipasto! No, impasto, that's it....
    I'd guess 1988 too, just from the style.
