Featured Vinaigrette pendants or?

Or something else? That’s the best I could come up with!
Both pendants have a hard material clamped between them but I’m not sure what it is or was. The enamel flower one is c1.5” across and the brass one is c1” across.
Any ideas please?

They might have been perfume pendants or some sort of air fresheners. Not vinaigrettes per se, but close unless someone else has a better idea.

 

Pomander pendant. Here's a example. Usually you would have a small sponge or piece of cotton soaked in perfume. Some are round and held a piece of scented wax.

 

Ah, I wonder if the hard stuff in the middle is very old wax?
