Hi again ...these were my aunt's. I know they are vintage. Very nice quality.
Are these baroque pearls? Just shy of 1" D.
Is there a market for screw on earrings?
    ANY info much appreciated.

If you look at the shape, you can understand why.:) Most 'dogtooth pearls' are thinner, but these also qualify.

I note the 14K mark so I do agree with "Any Jewelry" and the 14K does tend to authenticate this. Yes, there is definitely a market. Many mature women have chosen not to have their ears pierced and are actively looking for screw or clip type earrings. Also pearls are highly desirable with the elderly group. Also quality means a lot.

I'd be cheerfully happy to have those. No holes in my ears either; if I did I'd have to wear 14k or nothing. Since I'm into vintage costume that would be counter-productive.

Thanks for all the comments. They really are nice and every time I look at them..(for any more marks!) I am amazed with the quality. It also looks like they may bring a good price online--14k and so many nice pearls ..(though I have not found anything close in design).

River pearls are natural pearls, at least the ones I know are. They command high prices even now. Since the OP's earrings are mass-produced I'd venture the pearls are cultured.

You all have been so helpful...now I just need some help with words for listing. I thought I had it all figured out and then new info came along.;) I will be listing on Ebay soon with some of the other jewelry I posted here recently.
So ..ok to list as earrings vintage gemstone/pearl. Natural. shape barogue with white color and nice luster. 14k. Do I mention And of course...Antilles mother of pearl. Yes, no..? I hate listing stuff. Always afraid to make mistakes......

Janette, beautiful though these 'pearls' are, they are not real, natural, or baroque pearls. @kyratango has identified them as Antilles pearls. Antilles pearls are actually made of Trochus Niloticus shell.

Scroll down the page to 'Pearl imitations':

This is the shell they are made from:

@Any Jewelry Thanks you for your time and input . I have found this all very confusing, as I have often said, I am not a jewelry person.

I was using the term "natural" ..since I figured a shell..was such! And term "real"..as opposed to man made. I guess I was mislead or was confused. by some of the sites..as they said mother of pearl was natural.
I used term baroque..since that term was used in the sites I visited as a "shape".

    So much to learn...
So I am back to listing these as 14k costume jewelry.... I guess...
Again..thanks again for your expertise.

    They are not costume, imo.
Oh dear, I am confusing you even more, sorry about that.:sorry:

Just think of these carved Antilles 'pearls' mounted in 14k as you would of a shell cameo mounted in 14k, does that help?:)
