Vintage/antique wooden box

    IMG_3938.jpg IMG_3939.jpg IMG_3940.jpg IMG_3941.jpg IMG_3943.jpg Hello all, we have this wooden box with different compartments and a keyhole, but can't find any information on it. There are no markings. The box is 5 3/4" tall, 12" wide, and 8" long. It weighs 4 pounds. We would greatly appreciate any information we can get about it. Who made it, and how old it may be in particular. Thanks so much!

    the hardware looks pre 1900...and WAG ...maybe a paymasters box ?
