Your image is a Thai rubbing, not Tibetan. Google Thai temple rubbing.

I love the centerpiece and the music box, that candlestick has seen better days - might be best used as a self defense weapon, or to prop open a broken window - actually it may have already been used for both of those.
  8. It's definitely been through some stuff.

    Ah, the lure of Tibet....
Most 'Tibetan' items we see here are either made in Nepal or China. Both countries have a much larger population than Tibet.
    My bad reputation precedes me.:D

As 2many said, a Thai temple rubbing. Many were and are made, and some makers use replicas of temple carvings to prevent wear to the real ones.
Given your thought of it being painted by a Tibetan monk, I can understand the reasoning behind the price: The monk would have to fly to Bangkok to make his initial sketches of a Thai dancer, the rice paper would have to be imported to Tibet, the monk would mess up many pieces of rice paper while mastering the technique of painting on an unknown medium, etc.:playful:
    Ok, I'll shut up now.:muted:
