Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in Art or in Antiques Discussion?

Any thoughts on this figurine's origin? I know it's not newer than mid-20th century, but don't know if it could be older. I didn't see any marks anywhere. Is it a Buddha figurine?

    Thanks!

Yes, Buddha in one of his forms. Guatama I think. Blanc de chine, probably from Dehua.

Bear, thanks. Does his holding a small globe have any significance? Any guess on age?

    Komo, lol!

Gila, thanks. The one I clicked went to an eBay listing, could be they all do.

Dang, for me, that address brings up a Dehua smorgasboard... "Handwork Dehua Shop"...
    Weird.
    Sorry.

Gila, for me, too... but I've now clicked other items on the site and they all went to eBay listings. I think it may be what's called a "link farm"?

Why is everyone assuming she's a male?

TOG, this figure is very much like male figurines and images I've seen.

Bear, thanks. I like the sound and thought of "the sacred pearl of wisdom"!

Not really helpful to the OP but I saw a headline recently saying a woman was eating mollusk chowder of some kind and found in it a large pearl valued at $600. I hope she didn't damage her teeth finding it or she'll need more than $600. to fix 'em.

It was my impression that Buddhas with bubbhas were female.

Hmm... I did a little reading, and my figurine could be a female buddha. Guess if I list it, I'll have to mention it and leave it up to the buyer to decide.

And don't forget to bring attention to the very rare Buddha hair curlers.
