Vintage eye dazzler crochet rug

I got this a few weeks ago, I'm lacking energy to post stuff and research, I think I am probably burnt out on doing this type of thing online. This rug is called a crochet rug right ? Individual pieces used it looks like, has that musty 40's or so smell and it's wool.

Anyone know where it was possibly made and when or what the correct name would be ?

I think that would be called a "throw". I suspect it is knitted although I am embarrassed to say I am not for certain.

Probably made from a pattern book. I like the eye-dazzler effect.

 

Looks to me like a basic crocheted afghan done with variegated yarn...
