Featured Vintage lamp, thoughts on maker, plus what are these pieces for?

Seems vintage from the design and plug. Any idea of maker? Also what would those pieces (pic #3 & #4) under the shade be for? Is it missing something? Thanks.

 

I imagine the pieces you mention originally supported a diffuser or shade of some type, now missing.
Looks 1970ish to me, as a guess.

Probably had a white plastic shade on it and/or a flared ring. Pulling it off and ramming it back on those brackets probably took its toll. Like the fact that it articulates. Nice task light.

Just started looking around with some of these keywords and found this Gerald Thurston lamp. Not exactly the same, but this is probably the diffuser that is missing. (See photo #4).

Plug is a replacement but cord may be original. More 50s-60s than 70s. Agree that it is missing a diffuser. Search for flying saucer desk lamp brings up several similar but none exact. Consequently, it may be a vintage knock-off of a more pedigreed lamp.
