Sadly damaged but someone thought enough of it to try to mend, albeit rather crudely. It was saved from the £1 basket!
I’m presuming this is Jade, Mary Contrary gem tester agrees with me.
But is this modern touristy stuff or is there some age to it? Quite a lot of wear to the base.
    It’s c6” long.
    Thankyou for looking :)

So it’s a bat, dragon or pterodactyl? It’s a cool item. Looks well used.

I’m not sure, looks like a butterfly but Pterodactyl is way more exciting :hilarious:Suspect it’s meant to be a flower blossom though as there is a stem of sorts on the reverse.

I'd have figured a water lily, but pterodactyl makes for a better story. And for a whopping pound...what damage? :p

Now I’m wondering how I couldn’t see it’s a water lily, it couldn’t be more water lily if it tried

I think it’s actually meant to be a lotus. Vintage. These were made in large numbers. I know because I bought one hoping it would be worth more than it was. I’ve been trying to get 60-70 or so for it for years now.

Botany is not my strong point :joyful:
If I get 6-7 I’ll still be in profit :hilarious: so not too bothered.
Do you know when they were made, it sort of has a 70s vibe to it?

A lotus leaf imo, and again, well spotted. The usual subject for brush washers, which is what this is.:)

Brush washers are traditionally Chinese, but I think it is anyone's guess which market this one was made for. Frankly I wouldn't be bothered about that. It is (was?) a nice jade brush washer, and it can still be used as such even with the break.

You bought yours better than I did! Mine doesn’t have a break but I’ll be lucky to get it sold this decade I think. There’s too many of them. You should have no issue making a small profit though.
