Quartz movements were invented in 1969 so not that vintage.

I wonder whether any North Korean products are even allowed for import to the US (which is why I asked about the OP's location.)

I back away several inches, get a focused photo, and then crop out the excess background using the editing feature in my phone's original photo app.

I'm skeptical. Why would the Japanese (who make perfect good watches) send a watch movement to North Korea (their sworn enemy) to be assembled?

It could have come via China..... or another of the North's trading partners , back then ...

There actually is a niche market for early quartz watches, (though small). Seiko of Japan is a brand that comes to mind. Like many collectibles, it's the items which are tossed out that eventually spark interest.

This sites message board may have the answers about this oddity - https://nawcc.org/ Pose your question in the 'ELECTRIC HOROLOGY' catagory.

One of the big problems I have with this watch is that there is no maker identified. Between that and the "assembled in North Korea" I have a tough time believing this will appeal to US buyers. Now, I could be wrong, of course, but that's the way I feel about it.

Pretty sure you could (can) buy Japanese quartz movements by the pound (weight) from any wholesale source - I think they were probably the only country making them at first ...even fancy-schmancy early Swiss quartz watches had Japanese movements AFAIK.

Guessing North Korean products are probably available in Cuba, Russia, China Vietnam etc.
