Vintage Record Cabinet?

I was given this cabinet from a family member. The back story told was this belonged to my Great-Grandma but besides that nothing seems to be known about it. Dimensions are 33 1/2 inches height, 20 1/2 inches width, 15 1/2 inches depth. Any information about the cabinet would be greatly appreciated (when was it made, who made it, purpose). Thank you!!

What are the height measurements of the 2 sections?

 

13 3/4 inches tall, middle section is 5 1/2 inches wide and outside sections are 6 1/2 inches wide

 

That's not what I meant. The upper part (with 3 sections) appears to be taller than the lower part (with 3 sections.) Is that an optical illusion?

 

They are the same size in height.

 

Okay. The cabinet would definitely accommodate the 78 rpm sized records in that case. Many of those either came in multi-disk albums or were stored in unlabelled albums to keep them from being scratched. I have a bunch of both sitting here in a stack that were purchased in the 30s and 40s. Not sure when 78s first came out. But I would assume that the 30s or 40s might be on the early end of a possible age for this cabinet.

 

Also think 30s-40s and definitely a record cabinet.
