Featured Vintage Stoneware/Ceramic Rooster Plates

    I got this set of plates from a Goodwill thrift store.There's some type of initial but I can't make initial out.I've tried W,WJ,Nj,.This is just one plate SAM_0482.JPG SAM_0482.JPG SAM_0485.JPG SAM_0486.JPG SAM_0487.JPG of the set all are the same.This plate measure 10.5".I have 2 pictures from different angles.

    I was looking at some early Michael Cardew marks,the earlier onw is the Winchcombe seal mark.Anyone know about him.

    This doesn't really look like his work to me, nor any of his marks I saw.

    This kind of looks like a CW or perhaps a C A with 2 separate letters on the diagonal.

    I think the mark is an overlapping WV. Could this be French? I say that because, although I think this is a hen, the French national symbol is a Coque, and I have seen many plates like this here in France. The clay application has an English feel about it, but I am not convinced it is. I'll have a look at some the French marks - if I find it I'll let you know.

    Inverted image, I would strongly suggest, the letters look like 'WV' with the 'V' overlapping the 'W'...........IMHO..........:happy: (and sniped [all GOOD!!!!] by @Touchdry!!!!) AND YUMMY on the plates!!!!:):):)
