    Hello, I am back.
Few questions about this art: Is it Watercolor or Ink? Or just print? I think I could find more information if I will remove the picture from the frame, but: Should I remove it from the frame or just keep it like it is? Is it possible there could be some information inside? There is some sign on the back made in 1983. Should I cut a side and check the picture? Have no idea. :banghead::shame: 20250514_211724.jpg 20250514_211748.jpg
The picture with frame: 21"x11" and visible part of picture 14.5"6.5"
And last question: Am I right the inside passepartout is made from reed?
    Thank you!

Looks like an ink wash/watercolor original. The frame liner is grass cloth.

Texas :joyful: I found 3 Items in same time: This Art, my 5 yard Korean silk fabric and small made from Silk (?) / Cloth Japanese (?) doll. I saw one on ebay posted just for $22. I was thinking it is a little more expensive. 20250518_205437.jpg 20250518_205459.jpg

Thank you for a good news. How do you think, should I do a "surgery" and take it from the frame to see for some marks / sign? Thanks.

That's odd. I'm seeing sold eBay listings for Japanese Geisha dolls performing the seven hats dance in a case going for as high as $170. Of course, there's lots of variables such as age, size, condition, type of case, etc.

I saw too, but they are bigger and made from different material. Mine is small 7" H; and made from the cloth and plus neck is looking funny. :cat:

It's of it's time. Looks like a little 1960s souvenir costume doll. Neck is a pipe cleaner or look-a-like, a popular material for making dolls in the mid-century.

For the obvious reason. Cheryl Baker may be the artist and a local one.

I just looked her art and it is so colorful and "cartoon" style. My Zebra looks kind of ascetic. :hilarious:
P.S. Oh! I got it. You are talking about the sign at the back. I am thinking it is just a sign on the present. I will go now and open it and see what is inside.
    >>>I just was reading about Cheryl Baker - she is young lady. But thank you very much for idea.

I just made more pictures from "inside". There is no signature and looks like the art lost some bright of colors. Paint made on the 50 % Cotton paper and I think if I read right the "pressed" information on the paper, it is: FA 5 Fabriano paper. I will send pictures tomorrow....better say already today, later.

Fabriano is a common paper company that makes papers for wet media, among other things. Color fading usually happens when art is framed more cheaply with plain glass and not glass with a UV resistant coating.

Wow those pigments were seriously fugitive! This art must have been directly in sunlight for a while.

Shame. Someone hung it in a sunny place.

Yeah they probably used India ink so the black didn't fade as much and the piece isn't as obviously sun faded. So it still works as long as it stays under a mat. Just not what the artist intended.
