Just wondering if this old wall mount electrical device has a proper name. The unit itself is from Paul Seiler Electrical Works. There is a rheostat marked O. Flemming. It seems the top part measured/displayed the current going through the unit.

Found information online about Seiler, but not much in the way of products that were sold.

It appears to be an "electro medical battery" ie quack medical device

Those were usually portable or table type kits. Don't think i've seen any quack related items that would mount to a wall. Could be though. The unit was with some telegraph related items.

It does look like he dabbled with electro medical devices. "His electro-medical apparatus is said to be highly valued on the coast. Some eight or ten sets of the apparatus are now in use in Oakland and San Francisco alone."
