This “war club” came in an auction lot. I can’t put a finger on what it’s made of. It almost seems to be some natural granular material that was made soft then formed and hardened? Whatever it is it’s formed around a stone at the head.Unfortunately it’s cracked but at least that allows us to see the inside of the material. Not sure if it’s real or a fantasy piece? AA battery in final photo for scale.

I’ve seen a design very similar to the photo you posted but with what seems like bark holding the stone in. Like the photo I’ve posted here. 25338AD6-52B6-4F56-905E-789BD5C35996.jpeg
Edit: I guess what I always thought was bark might be leather on most of them. I see some now with braided vine or something but the others do seem to be leather.
The example in your link is extremely similar to what I have. It worries me a bit that they have four of them for sale. Supposedly all found together according to seller. Seller mentions his being coated in resin. Mine doesn’t really seem like leather but I suppose if it was very old and the resin somehow acted upon it maybe it could be. It doesn’t look like leather though.

The cracks make it look like it's cast from some man-made material.

If the sizable crack just under the 'head goes all the way around, how it the thing holding together? Is there something within the main shaft? If so, that would make it seem less likely to be authentic.

What is the thickness of the "covering"? Buffalo rawhide can be up to 3 mm in thickness.
