IMG_1235.jpg IMG_1236.jpg Hi, I was recommended to try this area to see if somebody could properly advise me on how to clean this brooch. I’ve posted both the front and back. On the back is etched 76J... does anybody know what that stands for? Any advice is welcomed! Many Thanks

76 J is the date, it's 1976. Get a wee bit of Magic Eraser, damp, and gently rub the jasper.

Thank you very much! Will the Magic Eraser effect the gold filled areas?

Never mind, I just looked up what magic eraser is, a sponge.

Yes, Penny, it's a sponge - but a MAGIC one! I have no idea why, but it works its magic on all sorts of things. I use them on everything from scuffs to the stovetop, and I'm not sure what I did before they became available. They are NOT like ordinary sponges.

Seriously.....what's the Magic Eraser going to do??? Those are incised marks.....!! OR is that NOT a hard surface??

She is not trying to remove the incised Wedgwood & date marks. The front of the pin is soiled around the edges & that is what she wants to clean.

Correct, the edges as well as the cherub. The Magic Eraser should work on both, correct?

The great thing about it is you can use a teeny tiny bit, and avoid the frame.

True. I just took a double look at it. I should be able to clean the surface. It’s the sides that I think I’m going to have to leave alone because there is a gold crown running along it prior to the outer gold filled chain.

IMG_1582(1).jpg The cherub has finally arrived. (It was lost in air mail for some time). I believe that it was well worth the wait.

I can't tell for sure. Have you tried the Magic Eraser yet?
