At first glance, this looked like junk to me, but at a second look, I couldn't resist its weird charm. I tried to.find it online, but have failed. It baffles me. It doesn't look like the holes were original to the piece, and almost all the silverplate on the back has been worn away. The company is Meriden B. Company and it's marked Quadruple Plate, 230, and U.S.A.
What do you think it was supposed to be? Maybe part of a bed warmer?

Weird. I don't think that scene in the center is original either. Looks like someone took an already damaged piece and tried to "save it."

Yeah, it looks strangely out of place and not like the company's other work. I kind of like it because I try to collect things I'd imagine in a Gothic horror story, and this fits right in...
The holes are weird, too, because they're not parallel.

After taking a closer look at the back, I realized that someone also engraved letters near the hallmarks:

Looks like someone was "playing" with acid, the top design and initials appear to be acid etched.

Hmm. I wonder if the etching was made during the same time period that the tray was created. Maybe I can find the artist...

Going by the etched image, would have to call it a bed Pan. :joyful:

Definitely once part of something larger, but...?

    Lmao! I love it.
Since the holes don't look natural to the piece, maybe a tray of some kind?
