What are these 2 cast iron(?) butterflys with cage bodies - incense/candle holders?

These were found in a storage unit a friend won at auction. I believe they are old & made of cast iron (they are heavy!).
With the cage like body & hole in bottom I'm thinking these are some kind of antique candle holders? Incense holders?
What are they & how old are they?
Bug one is 9" H x 11" W and the small one is 6" H x 8" W

They look like cast Iron Butterfly Candle holders you hang outside on a hook for ambiance lighting. With cast iron they can be old or they can be sold yesterday - just toohard to tell unless they have specific markings/stampings.......

Agreed. Candle hanger. They should gave a tabbed bottom with a tealight holder that would fit in the notches and twist to hold / replace the candles,

 

A simple test with a magnet will tell you if they are iron or not, no need to guess.
