What are these little hooks for?

Not sure what these lil guys were used for originally? Cufflink for scale as it’s all that was in reach. I seem to recall the hooker I got them from using them to somehow hang things off the fireplace mantle area. Unless I’m just imaging this, which is possible. Seem to be designed to be held between fingers. Nice little things but I’m tired of looking at them and wondering what they are for. E1C783FF-8F0E-4BBB-B188-AE7EF93E98A9.jpeg

Yes, they do look as if they were designed to be held and manipulated. But for what purpose? Dunno.

Those look a tad industrial for boot hooks. And the hooks themselves aren't quite the right shape.

Maybe they were made by the local blacksmith.

Wouldn't do one's boots any favors.

They would fit into the straps no problem.

Are you speculating or positive? While I’m sure they would work for getting under them they don’t seem ideal. Pretty small and would put a lot of force on your fingers. I can imagine many tools or designs that could be better suited.

Pretty small and not sharp I’d think you’d want bigger sharper hooks that could pierce and were a bit deeper to reduce any slippage. Although I see what you’re saying.

That's very nice. I like the spareness of his work.

Pretty positive, they come in all shapes, depending if it's a grill or a hole.( or two holes ) and how large the cover is
You dont "lift" the cover with this, clown.png the idea being to drag the cover from the opening, plus there are small cast iron lids no bigger than 6" x 6" ( water distribution ) that need keys so the "public" didn"t steel them .
( times have changed with the price of iron going up all the time )

these tools are not sharp and don't pierce anything
and they even sell them on amazon
