Featured What are these necklace beads made of? Malachite? Glass? Other?

    This strand of beads is really heavy (of course, it's long too).
    Can you tell by looking at it what the beads are made of? They vary greatly in color. There is a close up of one broken in half.

    What does the other side of the broken bead look like,the inside doesn't look like malachite.

    Are there bubbles in the broken bead? Something looks like bubbles in the photo and the color appears to be dyed darker on the outside compared to the inside color.

    Hi,
    I think the outer coloring is from the polishing of the beads. I had several un- polished pieces of malachite when i was younger. I put them in a rock tumbler
    and when they came out they were darker. JMHO

    What happens when you hit those spacers with a sunshine cloth? Real silver can turn that color when it's really tarnished. The beads look like malachite, but some of them look more like eilat. Are there any marks anywhere?
