I've had this pig for many years, I have no idea how old it is, or from what country. Possible Mexico, Italian, Africa, or........?? He's approx. 11" long. Material is terra cotta.

It might be considered more a flask? I have seen Anna Pottery pigs but those are typically recumbent and without polychrome decor. Looks more like Mexican - Tonala Tlaquepaque. Is the pottery redware?

    Learn something new here everyday!
In modern usage, an aquamanile (plural aquamanilia or simply aquamaniles) is a ewer or jug-type vessel in the form of one or more animal or human figures. It usually contained water for the washing of hands (aqua + manos) over a basin, which was part of both upper-class meals and the Christian Eucharist.
