    Hello fellow antique/vintage jewellery lovers

What creature is on this signet ring and and is it associated to any family

I have added photo of the hallmark which is British which but no date letter

I was think the maker could be Bentley and skinner but maybe not as it’s hallmarked in Birmingham

Thanks in advance for any input

    Ohh thanks a lot Debora.
That seems like a good contender a Yale or centicore:))

“A four-legged mythical beast, often depicted with a goat- or antelope-like body, horns that can swivel to face any direction, and sometimes the tusks of a boar or the tail of an elephant.

In heraldry, it represents "proud defence”

Heraldic use: It is used as a symbol by the British royal family and can be seen on the gates of St John's College and Christ's College in Cambridge

Ill follow these lines of enquiry

    Thanks

I can't make out what's on the shield below the creature's legs, can you?

That would be good yo know. Found very similar ones online. But the shield is additional and must be meaningful. Is this early to maybe mid 20th century?

If it was genuinely meant to be used as a signet ring, what would be important is how it looks in reverse:

What it’s supposed to look like:)

I guess I should have posted this first :)

What do you think is decorated in the shield and what does it signify

    Thank you

The definition in the muscles and the sharp teeth are more evident now
