WHAT IS IT? LARGE COMB? AFRO PICK? w/2 TRIBESMEN SITTING ACROSS BENCH ON TOP?

    OK, I've seen this before - but not so large - and know it's suppose to be a African tribal piece, but I'm guessing it's for tourists?
    My question is - what is it? Is/was there a real tribal piece of art like this & if so what was its purpose? Maybe 2 tribal leaders discussing terms? (no idea; just a wild guess)

    googling "Ashanti comb", several others turned up with the same style - red tines, yellow patterns on the bar, black figures, etc., which makes me think these are being produced by some artist or workshop for sale.
