Hi, Does anyone recognize this "Made in Italy" item and the interesting design? Would love to know all about it. Thanks
It is a bed warmer pan, like termofor, just not filled with water but with coal or wood. The design look art deco to me but i would love to see the sign made in Italy, because those signs were put on items after WWii, so my guess is that is midcentury..
Hot coals from the open fire are placed inside and then it is slid under the blankets. Here they usually have longer handles. They were heavily reproduced in the 70's for decorative use. I have never actually seen one that has been used, they were more often than not hung on walls. I get them in brass and copper, I scrap them because no one will buy them.
At this point I'm not going to argue. But it sure would be interesting (if something like this comes up in future) to get measurement of the depth of the pan part.
Looking at the size in relation to his hand in picture # 2 , I think it is too small to be a bed warmer. with the thumb catch, looks like a silent butler to me.
