I wonder if it could be for a laundry chute?

Is the bottom solid or is it a hinged door?

Is there any writing on it? And can you describe or take a close up of the square on the center bar of the frame?

I think its an art display of some sort. Maybe a music stand ?

My first though was an easel but a music stand would make sense!

It doesn’t seem to open very wide where it could lay 90 degrees. Do the chains come off?

    Hi,
I agree with Brad. When I lived in Manhattan I had a similar easel set up with a painting that I wanted to get framed. It just looked so well together that I never got around to frame the painting. I sold the set and it and I hope it went to a good home.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I was thinking easel too, but if it is, it's definitely missing parts!!!!! Which is probably why it was in an attic.....that an the fact that you said it was partially burned????
