It is a bead choker with a very long tasseled pendant on it. Any ideas what to call this
    shape?

Peacock tail. Although I'd not call it Egyptian Revival.

Hadn't thought of that, thanks, I suppose you could call it peacock tail.
It was bought in Mexico City in the early 70s. The designer was inspired by ancient Egypt, that's why I called it Egyptian Revival. But I agree, it is not the usual Egyptian collar or bib necklace.

It generally gets called a bib/statement/runway aka big honkin' necklace. :)

Probably because of that teardrop shape. And after all, the best known peacock species originated in India.;)
All I can say is, the designer said she was inspired by ancient Egypt, and who am I to say she was wrong.

    It does.
My mother used to wear it on a black evening dress, that was stunning.
