What is the shape of this Silver perfume from a Chatelaine :woot:

What is the main section of this?
    "A stylized shell ? "

The top unscrews ...I'd call a scallop shell.

    Any ideas?

    Richard ;-)

Beautiful, Richard. Agree, both are shell shapes, in Rococo style, but of a later date.

Ooh. I'm gonna say it looks like a wentletrap just cuz I love to say the word:

The little scrolly bits look like stylized waves to me & the stopper does indeed look like a scallop.

The decorative devices used are variations on Acanthus leaves rather than clamshells, FWIW.

Come to the Netherlands, and you can say it every time you see one of these:

Wenteltrap is Dutch for spiral staircase.

It's mentioned in the Headliner, but I too was wondering if there were any tiny marks on it to indicate Silver..... @Richard Daube ???

Yes me too because I can't see any marks and it looks Victorian and they definitely hallmarked the Victorian ones if they were Silver.

To me it looks like a beautiful plump lady all wrapped up in a......er......wrap of some sort.
I love it but obviously my mind works in a completely different way to everyone else's!

    I'm a Jeweler....
It tests as High Grade Silver 80% or more.
There are marks on both sides of neck,
but they're indiscernable under 5 power and 10 power loupes !
