Hi does anyone know what this baby's head is about?
Is it a homemade object it seems to be missing something from the bottom as it looks like there are glue marks or bumps or maybe it's meant to be that way it seems to stand up ok.

The yellowing or Browning I'm not sure if that is dirt or whether that's part of the plaster.

In my opinion the face and hair style seems to appear kind of a bit vintage but I'm not sure.

    It is solid not hollow.

    Thoughts?

Yes it's definitely plaster. I just wondered if it was of any known purpose or age?

It reminds me of one of the doll heads, but I can't think which one.

I think it would be hard to date plaster just by looking at it. I can imagine a piece made today would look very much like a piece made 200 years ago, unless it discolours with age maybe which I doubt? Anyone with access to an original could produce a reproduction quite easily by making a mold from the original with latex or another appropriate medium. Or maybe the composition of it would give the game away but this would require chemical analysis.

I wonder if it's the maquette of a death mask.
