Hi, this is about 18 inches tall, comes apart in the middle, and has a round plate that sits on the top of the bottom part. Not sure what it is made from, has a lacquer type appearance. Any thoughts as to function, or how to describe the shape? I plan to sell it locally for decorative value, but have no clue how to describe it.

    Thanks for any suggestions. min1.JPG min2.JPG min3.JPG

Thanks Terry, that's it exactly. The ones I saw on ebay and worthpoint seem to be older than mine, and have some value. Maybe mine is worth more than I think? Can't tell, seems more modern to me.

They are still made the same as they have been for 150 years

How clever of you to get a can with soup the same color! :)

Not clever at all, just happenstance! I have had that same can in my photo area forever, to use to show scale in my photos.
