I found this today at a thrift store. Is there a way to tell if it's bronze? Because inside his pan it looks like it could be rust?
Any idea what it was used for (the base with the 1 screw looks the the top of something), or is it just a statue?
It is heavy. AA EBAY NEW A ART STATUE BRONZE PROSPECTOR 1AA.jpg AA EBAY NEW A ART STATUE BRONZE PROSPECTOR 2AA.jpg AA EBAY NEW A ART STATUE BRONZE PROSPECTOR 3AAXXXX.jpg AA EBAY NEW A ART STATUE BRONZE PROSPECTOR 4AA.jpg

It looks like iron that was plated with something. The screw is connecting the miner and the base.

    Hi,
It is a wonderful job of a miner panning for gold. The "rusty" stains maybe the fake gold that has oxidized. Use a magnet to test.

Fridge magnet tries to stick to it - gues it's not bronze.
