Scottish Terrier? Schnauzer? Or something else? Thank you.

Terrier. I think. Cute little Japanese doohickey? What I'm wondering is what was sitting on his tail. Odds are it was some kind of little butterfly on a stick.

Not a schnauzer! I raised those. Ears not straight up. They tilt forward half way up, as do most terriers. And also unknown in brown.

90% of terriers have the droopy ears. The few with straight up ears have much longer hair. (Yeah, hair, not fur) Need grooming.

Except the short fur Boston and a few others, but their hind legs tend to be back further than the front, giving them a "sloped" look.

IMHO some good looking terrier sire to be, and a really cute little bitch met behind the school and the result was a model for your piece of porcelain.

It might be intended to be a West Highland White Terrier... but some things about it look more like a Scottish Terrier (except those are always black).

And I agree with what OLG said, that most terriers with ears that stick straight up have longer fur. So this one is probably not intended to look exactly like any one breed. More generic, perhaps?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    I vote for Scottish Terrier.

    With an artistic-license paint-job.

Hi, Gila. It could be, with the unfettered license of egotistical artists, you never can take their finished product as wholesomely accurate. :D

I should have put the maker and mark in my original post. This is a Gotha Pfeffer piece from dating 1932-1942. The hole in his tail is a pin holder.

It's a little Scottie. West Highland West_Highland_White_Terrier_Krakow.jpg Scotties are white.

I vote Bev as the winner, prompted by Gila who didn't get the belated HB wishes. Those also go from me to Bev.

My thoughts were just too picky about the short hair, Not realistic when making a porcelain mould.

AND a BIG OUCH on the pin. Don't recall every seeing one like that. Is that common?

    Scottie it is! Thanks Bev.

I've only seen a few of these figurines with the hole in the tail.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

What'd I miss, OG? Is HB for hurry-back or happy-birthday? Ever since I missed the sinko-de-mayo joke I've been in a daze. Or maybe I was already in a daze and that's why I missed it. Sometimes I find myself thinking in circles. Or HB could stand for half-back, but I don't think Greg would call me that, unless he used his Sartre-istic license. But I digress...

*holding Bev's hand up high* The winner!

Gila, on another thread earlier as I was rushing out the door ----------------------
Happy Belated Birthday greetings for Bev. Lots of them. When I came back from an appointment I couldn't find it. So squeezed it into the mysterious dog thread while she was here.
And I don't remember wishing one for you. So too early or two late. HB!!

Sorry, but I disagree. The West Highland White Terrier is different from the Scottish Terrier. The West Highland is called a "Westie" and the Scottish Terrier is called a "Scottie." Both are from Scotland, however.

I used to work with a librarian who had one of each of these.

    Westie:

New info. Good to know. I just thought they were all Scotties. Anyway, that Westie looks like the figurine!

Thanks Fig! Looking at those links, it looks like the Westie.

There are only thirteen thousand nine-hundred and twelve different Scottie breeds. Half of them black and the other white.

I'm going to check on Trump's latest exploits on MSNBC.

Please come to a consensus by tomorrow or I'll sick lyin ted on ya.

Thank you Cheryl. I did not know there were so many varieties. The coloring is the best match (so far)
