Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Kind of looks like a re-purposed hat, but for whom, or why, I'm clueless!!!

    South American tribal...?

That looks like machine stitching at the rim, pic#2 & 4.

Could it have at one time been red white and blue?
It is stitched but looked hand done. Also little Brad's holding the leather on.

For that to be so, the red would have leached into the white...but not the blue? I don't think that's likely, but I'm not well versed about fibers an' fabrics.

The stitching appears to you to have been by hand, rather than machine done? Sure could be, and that would add a great deal of appeal to the piece.

Someone had fun with their crafts. The rim is machine stitched, you can tell by the uneven stitches. (I do a lot of leatherwork.) The pink color could be from bleeding, I can't tell if the tops of the pink patches are discolored from dust, fading or bleeding. Some patches look gray. The red would probably bleed more than the blue.

But that type of work looks really familiar. Something I've seen somewhere...

I know similar pompoms from the hats of the Black Forest region and the Golden Triangle, but that's all.

It could be from Ukraine. The thrift store is owned by them. But they get donations from all over.

If the red were bleeding, wouldn't the adjacent areas of blue have become purple?
