It's sitting in an antique mart and no one could tell me what it is!

But why would it have a door and walls you can see right through? But the door does not go to the floor?

If it is a potty chair, it doesn't look functional for an adult.

Child's chair could fit inside over the hole.
    Orphanage torture chamber?

If it's not expensive could make for a Ghoulish Halloween decoration.

Looks like a poo toilet for those that have swallowed drugs.
They can viewed all the time until they pass the stuff.

Yes .. I think a toilet, a bucket would be placed beneath to collect stuff. How big is the hole ??? Oh never mind, I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead !!! ... :yuck:

A bucket is of course a need ...
When one sits down to do the deed ...
With no bucket AND no door ...
The whole shebang would hit the floor. :(

Dunno, doesn't seem to make sense for a toilet to me. Maybe something was suspended from the above rack and dripped into a funnel or bowl beneath? Maybe a large bottle was inverted?

Back in the day there would be a bucket underneath and the bucket would be taken out into the street and the contents tossed out .. there was no sense of cleanliness whatsoever and disease was rampant ... UGH.
