I just found this at a Goodwill for $1.00. I'm trying to figure out what it is and who made it. It has the inscription "No 1613" on it but no other information. It opens up and looks like you make coffee or tea in it. Any ideas about this?
Do both ends have that screen thing? The holes seem a bit large for keeping coffee ground or tea leaves in check. Is the center cylinder hollow?
You guys are right! Wow, I'm glad I bought this. It looks like it's an art deco cocktail shaker. From what I am finding online they are definitely valued at over one dollar. Also, a website I came across said that vintage cocktail shakers normally have patent numbers. I wonder if that is what the number Inscription is. However, nothing comes up on an online patent search.
Here's a genuine Mappinn & Webb "dumbbell" cocktail shaker. You may want to compare the interior of yours to its. https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/d...ell-cocktail-shaker-mappin-webb/id-f_6758053/ Debora
Thanks for the link. My cork definitely doesnt have a stressed look to it. The obvious difference between mine and the Mappin Webb is the strainer insert (see attached picture). I wish it had more identifiable information on it. At the very least I have an interesting new item to display on my bar cart.
A number like that is normally a pattern or inventory number that the manufacturer assigned to it. Not meaningful outside the company, generally.
