What kind of wood is this? Mortar and pestle

    It's thinly carved out of one chunk of wood. One image is the side with an age crack. The other is the unvarnished base. 101_0051.JPG 101_0054.JPG

    Hi,
    It's a burl so could be a lot of things but it reminds me of cherry.

    Thanks. I don't think this was ever meant for use. It was turned very thinly indeed.

    the bottom likes like core wood......not a burl.
